My name is Lowell Rempel. I am the owner of Jacuzzi Pool and Spa. I am dedicated to designing and building quality pools that lead our customers to say, "Wow!" We do something very unique in our industry, we eliminate many of the problem's people have when trying to decide who they should trust to design and build a custom pool.

Our approach to building a custom pool is simple…

To learn more about what you need to know before you start searching for a pool builder, and what makes Jacuzzi Pool and Spa unique, please read each of the sections below.

BE HONEST AND HAVE INTEGRITY:

"At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa, our salespeople and professional installers, deliver on what they promise"

Jacuzzi Pool and Spa were referred to friends and neighbors because of the fact that- "they [Jacuzzi Pool and Spa] did, what they said they would do." We were honest and our customers knew they could trust our recommendations and us.

You see, many other pool service companies in the industry simply want to sell you a pool; we would love to build you a pool. That's the fun part. Unfortunately in our industry, there is a lot of over-promising and under-delivering by salespeople. The reason? Most of the time, the person selling you the pool (and making the promises) has nothing to do with the actual building of the pool (delivering on the promise). You need to understand the motivation of the typical salesperson. They make money by "selling" pools not building them, and they make more money by selling lots of pools. Most salespeople will use "selling tactics" to try and pressure you to sign a contract at the first meeting; they care only about making the sale and moving on to the next potential buyer to make more sales from pool supplies.

DESIGN AND BUILD A QUALITY POOL:

"At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa we believe in Quality not Quantity"

You would assume that building a quality custom inground pool would be simple enough to do, especially for those companies that claim to be "the biggest and the best" in the area because they build more than 500 pools a year. Just like in other industries, you have companies that make their money by selling a large quantity of cheap products and you have other companies that sell fewer products but of higher quality. There is a big difference in the quality of a tract home versus a custom built home. At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa, we only build fewer pools in a year, but that is because we want to focus on the quality of our pools service and not the quantity.

"Wait a second," you say. "Aren't those 'production-oriented pool companies' you've been talking about usually the best? I mean, how else would they have gotten so big?" Well, first of all, you need to understand how they got big in the first place. Most high production pool supplies companies started by working with tract and semi-custom homebuilders. They punch out scores of "cookie cutter" pools, assembly-line style, to meet the demands of the masses moving into new subdivisions. In order to keep their doors open, they began selling directly to residential homeowners by leveraging their brand name in the phone book and advertising that they are the largest builder in the area. They are hoping that you will assume that means they are the best and that you should trust them to build your quality pool - when in actuality, they are only good at building cheap pools.

"At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa, we take a few unique steps to ensure quality and that your pool is built right"

Step 1 :: Our custom pools are designed to your own preferences and unique desires. Our pool supervisor will have direct involvement and provide guidance to the experienced crews on how to properly build each custom designed pool. Attention to detail is critical. We have therefore found it is essential to have the supervisor on-site because they possess the skills and experience necessary to properly build many of the common features of a an in ground pool.

Step 2 :: At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa we have a close working relationship with every person that sets foot on one of our job sites. Good sub-contractors are a critical component to building a quality pool. These are the guys that are actually on the site and are responsible for the digging, plumbing, plastering, electrical work, decking and the most important part, the masonry and rockwork on the pool. Every pool service company hires sub-contractors to perform these tasks. At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa, our supervisors know each foreman by name.

BUILD THE POOL ON TIME AND ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE:

"A Fairytale That Every Pool Salesmen Tells…even the honest ones"
There is nothing more frustrating than having a salesperson sell you a pool and tell you that they will begin digging the pool in 2 weeks, only to find out that after digging the hole the crew is nowhere to be found for another 4 to even 8 weeks! Most pool salesman may tell you the start date but what they fail to mention is the completion date.

Not only is this is extremely frustrating, but it is also illegal. Because most pool service companies require 25% of the purchase price upon the initial dig, many of them have been known to dig the pool as soon as possible, but don't complete the pool for another 2 months.

Most pool companies will only include the start date in the contract and not the completion date. This is because the salesperson has no idea what the construction schedule is going to be for your pool. Many of them have no clue who the supervisor is on the job, let alone the actual crew, nor do they know when they actually plan on building your pool. But many salespeople will tell a fib or set unrealistic expectations in order to close the deal. This is fine for them because they know once you sign the contract, you will more than likely never see them again.

At Jacuzzi Pool and Spa we strive to do our very best at having the work completed on time. We are able to do this because not only is the person making the promise to you responsible for the scheduling of your pool but they personally know all of the superintendents and can therefore ensure that your pool will be completed according to schedule and built on time.

Step 1 :: Analyze site and draft preliminary sketch Whether your house is already built, or whether you are early in the design stages, the foundation to any good design is a detailed plot plan that shows the footprint of the house with finished floor elevations, easements, set-backs, or other site contingencies.

Once the survey and/or plot plan has been obtained from your architect/builder, our salespeople can draft a preliminary sketch that considers the architecture of the home, your functional requirements, sun exposure, privacy and view opportunities.

Step 2 :: Develop a preliminary budget Based on the site analysis and your design requirements, our salespeople will help in assessing what your project may cost.

Step 3 :: Draft a detailed plan Once a conceptual budget has been determined, our designers will then be equipped to draft a design for your review. Structural engineering for the custom pool and walls may be required at this point.

Step 4 :: Prepare a detailed cost estimate Our salespeople will provide a finalized cost estimate once we have developed a finished scale-drawing (with completed engineering, when appropriate).

Step 5 :: Draft construction agreement

Step 6 :: Generate Construction documents and obtain building permit Depending on the complexity of your project and the municipality in which you reside, this phase could take but a few days (for simple projects) or up to several weeks (for jobs that require custom engineering and multiple reviews by the city building department).

Step 7 :: Site Prep and layout Once the building permit has been obtained, construction can begin. Some projects require a good deal of prep-work before the actual pool construction can start. Demolition, grading, and retaining walls are just a few steps that might occur prior to laying out the shape of the pool itself.

Step 8 :: Checkpoint #1 Once the pool is either painted on the ground or staked and delineated with string line, this is a great time to meet with the project supervisor to verify the actual size, configuration, placement, depth and height of all the design features that were heretofore discussed with pen and paper via drawings at the kitchen table. This is where the vision of your project begins to manifest in reality.

Step 9 :: Forming and Excavation If you haven't experienced it already, the action and excitement begins with loud, heavy machinery tearing into your site. The goal is to create a tranquil finished environment for you to relax and enjoy, but the process of construction can feel invasive and disconcerting while your yard is in such disarray. If you have selected a professional building team, their professionalism and communication with you will help minimize the disruption of this tumultuous experience. Patience and flexibility on your part will make the process flow right along.

Step 10 :: Plumbing and Equipment Set

Step 11 :: Structural steel re-bar installation

Step 12 :: Arrange electrical runs and hookups

Step 13 :: City inspection / make corrections if needed

Step 14 :: Checkpoint #2 At this time it is good to double check things such as light placements, therapy jet locations, and in-floor cleaning head locations with the designer / superintendent prior to the installation of concrete.

Step 15 :: Concrete Watch as your custom pool takes shape right before your eyes as the pool bottom is covered in concrete.

Step 16 :: Clean-up, trench burying and general grading for decks This is the best phase of all, because up until now, your yard has been a war zone of open trenches, exposed piping, exposed conduit, exposed re-bar stakes, piles of dirt here and there waiting to be leveled, and a big whole in the ground that was hard to navigate. Suddenly you have a pool to look at and the yard gets put back to some semblance of normality.

Step 17 :: Checkpoint #3 (Deck Layout) At this time the supervisor and the home owner should get together to mark out where the patios will go. Does the design as depicted by the original plan meet your expectations of where you want furniture, landscape, and walkways? Now is the time to double check, ask questions if you are doubtful, and make suggestions.

Step 18 :: Deck installation

Step 19 :: Fencing and Barrier installation

Step 20 :: Final Inspection If your municipality requires your backyard doorways to be self closing or alarmed, this is the deadline for their installation

Step 21 :: Home owner schedules gas hookup If you have a natural gas supply meter to your residence, it is required by the Gas company that you make the call to have the meter connected to the gas lines run for your pool heaters and/or fireplaces. If you have had propane tanks installed instead of natural gas, verify that your supply tanks are full at this time.

Step 22 :: Interior liner finish Another exciting day has arrived: the installation of your pools final interior liner finish. Say good bye to the raw concrete. In a few days you will be swimming.

Step 23 :: Fill pool and Start-up The tease: you have been so looking forward to seeing water in your in ground pool, the kids are stomping pool side with swim trunks donned, and we have to say just a few more days of work to be done. It takes just a few more days and a little more patience while we turn the systems on, troubleshoot, perfect any discrepancies, and get the pool water's chemistry stabilized for you.

Step 24 :: Orientation meeting At this time we'll set up an actual appointment to meet with you. It is time to show you everything about how to operate your swimming pool.

Step 25 :: Landscape installation / restoration

Step 26 :: Enjoy!
